Absolutely this. There was a 'restore power to damaged places'/'remove toxic gas' idea that got cut early on due to time pressure and/or lack of skill that might have helped here.
The computer consoles and embryo-in-a-tube thing are just background art; I wanted them to stand out a bit to show that the player could hide behind them, but now that you mention it, the lights and texture animation make it seem like a thing that needs to be talked to/used. Some reworking is definitely in order...

I saw this twice during playtesting in the room prefab with exits facing south, east, and west, but could never get it to happen reliably, and so I never fixed it. I'm sorry you ran into that.
