Yeah, I decided to give it a shot now that I'm finally free from development hell XD.

I was curious to explore what this series was all about, especially after playing Unholy Lights.

Personally, I feel like the interactions were merely distractions from reality.

A series of moments in the protagonist's life that stop her from confronting the horrific nature of her reality.

I found the story in Things Lost pretty vague, which I think is fitting, as it leaves room for interpretation. 

It allows the imagination to run wild, and I really dig it for that.

yessss, you're right, talking animals were her protection from reality, so you can get the true ending only if you ignore them
but actually the tree was a real person... it was a homeless man, he was talking in his sleep nad Karen decided... to help him😥

Oof. Well, I guess he was brought back to reality (from his dreams) in a way.

A slightly warmer way than the protagonist's, I would say.
