I played a few hours and had a lot of fun rearranging the layout, organizing items, and finding ways to save time crafting and serving food faster to make the cafe more efficient. Another anon I played with preferred the building and aesthetic part and it was fun collaborating together and messing around.
The main issue I have is the controls don’t feel pleasant. The movement is slow, it’s hard to grab things like the mop or trays with big items on them, the basket gets grabbed easily when trying to get coffee from the machine with the tray, it’s hard to place tables together, and spills that spawn directly underneath a customer table can’t be clicked on to clean up because of the table’s simple hitbox. The little annoyances add friction to the replayability. Co-op could be improved as well by making it easier to communicate, such as allowing players to claim an order so two don’t make the same order twice.
Lag also accelerates camera movement and makes it frustrating trying to progress the game. After doing several steps to make a hard drink, sometimes I would get a lag spike and accidentally click the wrong one on a tray and ruin it, or the lag would spin the camera around suddenly looking behind me or at the ceiling. I also made less money doing more work so I avoided progressing the game beyond tea until the cafe was fully expanded. I think fixing the lag and controls, introducing one new item at a time, and increasing the returns would make the progression more fun.
Also ran into several rare bugs I was unable to reproduce, like empty cups actually having drinks in them. I suspect they were due to lag or lost packets from my internet dropping causing items and player state to desync.
Even with the issues though it’s still fun. Looking forward to the next demo.
