I do not use Blender. I use timeline (mod) for studio. It can be a tedious process, but it works fine if you put the work in and animate all the points you can in a character to create some kind of lifelike movement.
I have no idea how to use Blender and probably will never mess with it. But you can do some pretty decent animations with timeline if you're patient, persistent, and don't mind the tedious work of posing and moving FK points.
