Here is our first ever attempt at making a GameJam game. We would be really grateful if we could get some feedback on it :D

Amazing game! It was very delightful and enjoyable. I had fun playing and dying throughout and in the end, the grub was grateful.

As promised, here are the things that I loved, and things that I would love to see improved:

  • The best thing about the game is the simplicity of it. The mechanics were very simple, and because everything was well put together, it felt enjoyable throughout, and I didn't feel bored or "used to the mechanics". Very well done.
  • The story is quite simple, and I liked that you explained it through a tutorial.
  • Again, the simplicity of it all is the best thing about the game. The enemies were really cool, especially the red caterpillar worms (idk what they are called)
  • The visuals were really good, and more importantly, it felt consistent. The colors - green and brown felt very good together.
  • I had some suggestions with some audio. The shooting sounds were really good. I personally didn't find the dash sound apt for the mechanic. It felt like a sound that you would use for video transitions while editing. I would suggest swapping it to something that feels more dashy.
  • I would also suggest adding a death sound, maybe a death blinking animation. These things add more life to the game.
  • The game initially felt difficult, but once you learn how to move forward, and quickly-turn-back, shoot, and turn-back-again mechanic, it felt easier. I would suggest increasing the stamina cost for each dash, perhaps you can hold the button to dash longer distance, with a higher cost. I think you could increase the speed of the enemies a bit as well, as the player progresses.
  • You could farm levels on one side of the map with less enemies, which would make you strong and then you can proceed to deal with the caterpillars. This makes things very easy for the player. To add more challenge, I would recommend adding debuffs as well. Like more cursed leaves that would give random debuffs, but eating those leaves should give a good amount of health as well.
  • The triple shot is way too op. Basically 3x damage. Many enemies are large enough that it gets way too easy.
  • Also, once the jam is over, I would love for you to continue working on the game. You could add more story elements, and levels, and expand this futher into a Grubhub Saga.

Overall, I love this game. I had a really fun time playing it, and it has the potential to become something big, with time. I'm proud of what you've made, especially for a first attempt. And you should be too. All the best.

By the way, it would really be helpful if you could play my game, and give feedback on it. It would really mean a lot. Thanks.
