Why do Android downloads need to jump to external links? Unable to download after jump

Unfortunately Itch.io does not allow direct uploads of the APK. Which would mean we need to upload it as a WinRAR or Zip file, but I had many many people telling me they don't know how to work a WinRAR or Zip File on Android, so it is easier to offer the APK directly over a External file.
In this case, what seems to be the issue with the link please?
