i'm gonna gush about this one, it hit the right spot for me

for context, i used to speedrun GOI so i have a good feeling for how these kind of games work. i love what you did with this. the sword is obviously very reminiscent of the hammer, so that was very easy to pick up. there was a silly bug(?) where i had infinite boosts out of the hole, but i'm guessing that was intentional because it felt kinda impossible otherwise. and then i was a gun and everything changed. this game has so much meta play hidden in it for fun speedrunning with how you can switch between the modes midair and chaining them together. i would've ended up spending another half an hour on this if it weren't for wanting to look at other submissions. and also the cloud section got a little confusing so that made me call it as well.

i really don't have any issues with this game that i can think of other than lack of nice sfx for the different modes, for buttons etc. i love this game enough to buy it if it became a finished product that i can master and speedrun. huge congrats from me for getting this done for the jam

this is a super thoughtful response, thank you for taking the time to write it! i’m glad it connected with GOI for you, a few of us on the team have spent a lot of time playing “Foddian”-type games even though we haven’t played a lot of Getting Over It specifically; we do seriously respect Bennett Foddy as a developer and a force in the industry, and i really felt it set the right expectations for what Switchblade ended up becoming. we definitely did lean into the Foddy formula for the sword in particular, haha

If you used to play GOI a lot, I'd love it if you took a look at my game too! I'd love to hear your thoughts on it and I think you'd enjoy it! https://djdevil8.itch.io/stabbing-over-it
