I’m surprised the chatter hasn’t gone into overdrive for a Next version which would make use of the extra features and memory.

Being able to develop on the PC using MPAGD and then output a .nex file would be a thing of beauty and something I would pay for.

I think this is where the Next is lacking in having a full out of the box dev environment.

I totally agree, an environment like MPAG for NEXT would be amazing

I think a native version of this on the next for the next would be most ideal. I still prefer the more limited Speccy version of AGD over the windows version because of the sterile and invasive feel of windows I get these days.  I just hate the fact I'm in windows when I'm in windows, basically.  It's a me problem, I know.

That said, I'm not skilled/knowledgable enough to do any of the necessary sweat-work of making it happen.  So I hope and refill my patience meter and enjoy what is available today.

I will be returning to MPAGD shortly but as work has been done on engines and compilers for Coleco, VIC-20, Atari and ZX81 those will probably be the next machines to be added.  I do intend to revisit the Next engine but in the meantime if any Next developers want to add all the OUT instructions needed to EngineNext.asm just let me know and I'll start thinking about block and sprite editors
