Trouble installing a game

So I found this funny horror game called crunchy (highly recommended) while watching youtube and decided I wanted to play it myself, but when It downloaded and I tried to open the file, it said I needed an app installer.  After a lot of trouble, I was able to install an app installer that looked alright, but then found out it only works for microsoft products. After using an app called RAR opener, I was able to open the file, but now it's saying the code was not found and to reinstall the program. Anyone have any idea how to properly install the game so I can play it?

Itch.io games shouldn't need to be installed; just unpack and run. If that doesn't work like it should, ask the game creator, their comments are open. (And while you're at it, ask them to use a standard archive format such as ZIP; creators won't listen to us.) Assuming it's this game, anyway. If not, please link to it.

Yeah, it's the same game. But every time I download it, it keeps saying I need to install it with an app installer. I also tried using RAR Opener to unpack the files, but then it says the files either do not work or that its a danger to my pc, and when I do run it despite the pc's warning, it still says the file was not found and that I should re-install the files.

Right. We can't help with that. Again, please ask the game's creator, their comments are open and it's their responsibility. Sorry, and thanks.

They haven't responded to me.
