Nicely done. It was really nice and relaxing to play.
The good stuff:
- The different upgrades. Most of the things I immediately thought of after the first cast I could improve with upgrades.
- The mystery of the depths, how the music was slowly tuning out and the water became darker, and that I could upgrade my line length to get deeper and deeper also made me want to keep going to see how deep I can get
- The boat-shops was a nice touch
What could be improved:
- The cards felt a bit sluggish and unresponsive. When I had a lot of fish to sell or I just wanted to buy all the stuff in the shop I wanted to spam click the cards but instead had to patiently wait a second or two before being able to click the next card. Sometimes, nothing happened and I had to move around a bit first. But then again, it made me slow down and relax a bit more. So maybe a feature :D
- Also, reeling in from waaaay down took a bit too long. I would have liked an upgrade to be able to reel in faster. But again, I guess it added to the "calm down" feeling.
- It was great how the game built up this mystery and expectation of going deeper with darker waters and fazing out the music. But when I got to 250 I think it was, nothing happened :( I expected some eldrich horror, or at least some bigger fish or shipwreck or anything. I felt like I beat the game at that point, so it would have been nice to end it in some surprising way.
Still great jam game. I'm just practicing my game analysis and feebacking.
Keep it up!
