as someone who is both chronically monolingual and obsessed with language, I feel this. something that I read that has stuck with me when I am discouraged when learning about a new language is that while children may benefit from neuroplasticity, as an adult you are still learning much faster than they do. babies may get home field advantage but it takes them how long to even form words? skill issue.
