If this helps, I'm on 0.103 and ran into the same thing - got caught by the insects, and after the scene plays I'm stuck in a black screen. I see my portrait and status, and can stumble out of the map to access my menu, but the screen is black and I can't do anything.
Update: walking blindly into another insect and getting the second scene fixed it.
