I get it. Still I thought that it would be nice to be able to rotate the compass, maybe just for the sake of variety. So I combined those two features into one because they are sort of related to each other. If you want to reorient the map without rotating the compass, ctrl+click the compass after rotating the map. This will reset the compass without affecting the map.
