Apart from adding to the urgency of the situation, I don't see the need for the auto-scroll. You have to platform carefully as you can't attack. so doing so with a severe time limit is annoying at least. There is no major penalty, so I managed to finish the game.
I liked the "boss fight" and the "cheeky" climb animation.
