btw - wine just works
I am a Debian user and I would love to play this game, but I have come across a D3D-related error. I am curious what your wine config is like.
If I am not mistaking, default config worked for me. Anyway you probably easily can run it throw steam (add custom game or buy when it will be aviable) or use Lutris (google for more info, just don't forget to use winetricks).
