Despite being just a demo, Vibrant Venture is looking like a really well done game. The art is cartoonish, but not over the top, and the colors all really pop. And while swapping between characters while moving around feels a little awkward to me on gamepad, the controls are otherwise pretty solid. The world also has lots of nostalgia to it, genuinely feeling like a Snes style game.

Good job, devs.

Based on the video, I think it feels awkward to you because you neither sprint (which is something you do in all platformers to jump higher) nor used the character wheel to slow down time by moving the right thumbstick. Instead, you only used quick-swapping with the DPad, which is a lot harder to use.

All of these features are presented in the tutorial, but it seems like you didn't notice, which could either be our fault (bad design) or yours (not paying attention). Either way, for the next demo, we'll try making it more clear by enabling auto-sprinting by default as well as streamlining the tutorial boards more.

Also, sorry if this sounded aggressive, I only wanted to present these points of view as a means to gain a better understanding of how we can improve. They're simply objective analytical observations ;)

Thanks for playing!

I booted up the game again and, yeah, I definitely missed the option for using the right stick. Often, other games I've played with similar swap out mechanics just used the d-pad, so I instinctively went to that. As for sprinting, I knew about it, it's just that I'm forgetful and was mostly putzing around, enjoying the scenery.

Perfectly fine. A mistake occurred and was corrected, so I get that. It happens with new games.
