Apparently, to make things happen, you have to click on the fields a few times or hold the left mouse button on them for a bit or just hover the mouse over it for a bit.
the description in the "getting started" now specifies that you have to hover the cursor over stuff to harvest or produce. it jsut is painfully slow so one might think that nothing is happening cause it takes forever for 1 fruit to be harvested in this way
