if i buy the game on itch, would i have to rebuy it again once it launches on steam?
Yes they are different stores, owning it here does not mean you own it on gog, or steam, or any other of the sites it will eventually be sold on. The same applies to owning it on steam, you won't get itch keys with the purchase.
