I find it an interesting idea and the game has charm, although it can be quite difficult to fully control the mechanics. However, once you manage that, the game becomes entertaining. One thing it does very well is to remind you of the level of challenge in the original NES games, and that is a good point that gives it the essence of the console. But it could be improved.
