Here is an idea then, because the first batch of baby legends have made their way to maple, she could perhaps secure more funding due to having proven results that the experiment is working and with that funding provide a new ship at the end of the chapter. If you have less then half of the legends maple says she just wanted to provide a comfortable space, more then half she will say the other one got crowded.
