Bro how come is this good, composition wise u are such a tryhard ngl is so nice. Mix wise tho it do be a bit off imo, like  piano chord that comes in around 0:40 do be slamming right into one's head after first 40s being pretty chill and mild, mids/low-midds do be pretty harsh at places. Other than that is great.

Loved this track. Feels like it could be straight out of an anime soundtrack super emotional and well-crafted. Amazing work

You’re probably winning this jam, impressive work, tells the story pretty well.

Quick tip:side chain harp or piano to background strings or pads during verses to get a snappy crisp feel, I do it with upright during climaxes in a snare like pattern like a time keepe, gives an enormous downbeat power(don’t overuse)

Developer(+2)

Hey thanks for your comment, I appreciate the feedback! I'm pretty new to the mixing and producing, so I will have to learn about side chaining and how to do it. Thanks for explaining it to me, and I loved your submission too. I don't think I'll be winning since it is my first jam, but I'm grateful for the experience nonetheless and your support!

The orchestration is quite nice and I think all of the instruments are very well-chosen :)

My only gripe is that sometimes the piano can be startlingly loud (with a touch of clipping at the loudest parts). I feel like the mix could benefit from some compression to help the different sections meld together a bit more. Dynamic contrast is great, but I feel here that the loudness is slightly too extreme and that we would feel the dynamics anyway just through the orchestration (with those big open chords and the more extreme range)

I really do feel the story as well and like how you take us through these different moods. Good job!

Thank you for the feedback I really appreciate it! The piano part after the quiet stripped back section does come off as very loud for headphone users, ill try lowering the dynamics there like you suggested! I’m not quite great at mixing yet, I usually just record live or make sheet music and pull the audio from there, but ill definitely check out the uses of compression👍👍. Glad you enjoyed the story!

Yeah, in music there are a billion skills to master 😅 so no sweat, you clearly have a very good grasp of composition and orchestration so that’s already worth a lot!
