Description
A cozy jazz café track. The snare drum with brushes always reminds me of the sound of rain.

Very smooth jazzy rain-behind-the-windows vibe, verygj, rly enjoyed this one.

Thank you for listening!

I know what you mean about snare with brushes, always gives me that soft rainy day vibe as well.

I really like the piano, but I wish that the sax was a bit more audible. It sounds just slightly too far away for me especially since the arrangement is relatively sparse, though I do like how well it fits into the ambience so I’m slightly torn. You did a great job of making the drum track sound very natural and human which I really appreciate. Which VST are you using there?

Also the mix! It really has a nice sense of place and I think everything is treated with just the right amount of reverb.

Yeah, and your harmonic choices especially towards the more improvisatory end are really great. This blend of kind of bright major stuff with the chromatic runs is quite nice, really love this track :)

Hey, thanks so much for the kind words! Agreed on the sax—I’m using two different sax sounds and neither one is very high quality so I’m trying to mask it by mixing it a little lower than I’d like.

The drums are the Logic Pro “Speakeasy” kit. I played it in manually and then looped four bars.

I’m newer to mixing so I’m not always the best at it, so it’s nice to hear you liked it!

Ah yea, playing the drums in manually definitely paid off then 😁 I also haven’t found a sax I like yet…
