Hello! Just finished playing Ghosts of the Past, and I had some feedback if you don't mind.
- The environment was amazing. I could see myself going through this city again, but populated by people this time, and having a blast.
- Sam's animations were very fluid and endearing, but I agree with some people here... the first person segments move too slowly for my taste. Also when I jumped it felt like I was being locked vertically, so it kinda took me out of that enjoyment of jumping through the whole map :(
- As a character, Sam could use some work. She's not a silent protagonist, so I can't fully insert myself (actually the best segments for me were when she didn't reply directly and I could feel like I was answering or asking the questions); but she's also not developed enough to where I can enjoy her story fully. I didn't feel she acted realistically to what was happening around her (she acknowledges her family situation for one minute and then just asks other questions, for example) and the segments where she talks are inconsistent with the personality I chose through her dialogue options.
- The premise was good, but I think you guys wrote yourselves into a corner a bit by dropping too many bombs XD instead of working through my feelings due to my family situation or exploring more emotions with my grandmother, I'm left to confront a Nosferatu and some detectives I got introduced to in the last minute of the game. One of my favorite parts was when grandma projects her emotions on me, and I can feel the weight of everything that is happening without her saying a direct word. I think if you took out the kidnapping stuff and focused more on that, the story could've turned out great. It has the potential to be a great supernatural drama, made me feel like Cronos from Guillermo Del Toro sometimes.
Overall, a great job for under a month! The setting is beautiful and it runs like a dream. I just feel like if you're going for a walking simulator, the story could be a little bit more focused. Hope this helps!
Wow. I am a 3D Designer myself and I can tell how much work that was to build all this. There are here and there some issues, but for a months work, maybe in part time, great work.
Some issues I experienced:
was glithcing through parents home so the view didn't change from third to first person and everything in the house appeared to big and I glitched a lot in there. After speaking with parents it returned to first person view.
the camera movement is too fast
the character too slow
the camera is also a bit too wobbly inside rooms while walking in first person view.
Aside from that I liked that. City looks good. Not up to date graphic but well done for a jam. Interesting story and I also like the jumping and that the story is about a mortal who stays mortal ^^
It was a well done gone seems like a lot of work went in to it.
I enjoyed the investigation storyline and the nice transitions between 1st and 3rd person. I kept expecting to hit a parkour segment but never did. Maybe it was on a different path in the game.
Main complaint is the mouse sensitivity was way to high for me. I wish I could have turned it wait down in the options menu because I kept spinning with more the little movement.
Wow, very professional, I thought that was impressive.
Cons: There was a weird lurching in first person whenever my character took their first step. I actually came close to throwing up it was so much vertigo. I found it hard to climb stairs and too easy to clip through objects like bookshelves and even walls. I would start to climb walls and open door frames without wanting to. I couldn't even get in my parents' house without climbing in through a closed window.
In third person, sometimes it would not be possible to move the camera while running.
Pros: So much detail! Forks and spoons on the table, etc.
I could side-flip all day, loved the parkour! (I'm a parkour instructor) I liked how items of note would light up so I could see they were important.
Nice music throughout. Nice branching choices where I could call the police or not call them.
Loved being able to call up a map.
The little things make it truly impressive. Like someone took the time to write an entry on how tossing their backpack down at the door was a bad habit. They didn't have to, but they did, and that helped establish the character better than some movies. Great effort!
This was nice! I really liked the moody city environment (although maybe it was a bit too barren, but I understand it's time consuming to fill an open world) and the central mystery was engaging. What I liked the most is that the protagonist was not a vampire, but someone who simply got tangled up in their business, it's an often unexplored angle in VTM media!
Getting to see a 3D city was great, and the atmosphere was spot on. I also liked the story itself. A enjoyable game and the dialogue was fun as well. Bonus points for the jumping animation.
Hi, just finished playing through your game, the story was really engaging. Also have to mention that the colors and the light in the 3D city part of the game really nail the atmosphere - thank you for the experience!

Thank you for playing. We were shooting at that angle. :-)

It's a nice and short game. I especially liked the scenery and the story. Good job!
Thanks! :-)
