It looks interesting, but the controls didn't seem to respond at all on the Valve Index with Valve Index Controllers with Steam VR as the default OpenXR. Is this a Meta/Oculus-only game? I'll give it a try later with an Quest 3 and Meta link if I get a chance.
Later: It doesn't work with Quest 3 and Virtual Desktop w/ SteamVR either, so I'm guessing it is a Meta/Oculus-only game that has to work through Meta's desktop app. Please make sure you indicate that on the game's description/download section to spare the players some time and frustration.
Ok, I tried it with Meta Quest 3 over Link cable with the Meta Quest Link as the default OpenXR and the controls finally worked. I wasn't able to get very far at all though. I grabbed the green crystal to start. The tentacle guy tells me to grab the red crystal and throw it into the crusher on the right. But as soon as I grab the red crystal, it disappears, and an alarm goes off before I can even throw it, and then there are no more crystals or anything else to interact with. I'm really confused.
I tried it yet again after a few more times repeating this, and figured out that maybe I was standing too close to the green zappy thing and the game thinks I threw the red crystal in the green thing? So I move away from the green zappy thing and get past that. Then the tentacle guy tells me to get the green crystal on the conveyor. I couldn't figure out how and after minutes of waving my controller around trying to do that remote grab unsuccessfully, I gave up. :(
Kudos on the novel dithered aesthetics and voice acting, and making the game for a game jam in a very limited amount of time though!
I just saw your new video and see where the problem is. In my playthrough, the green gem just stays stuck on top of the upper conveyor belt and remains ungrabbable. In your video, it actually rolls down the conveyor belt where it can be grabbed.
Hey I never replied to your comment - thank you for your dedication to playing. Thank you for the kind suggestion about leaving detailed documentation for set up for the user. I will be sure to include useful instructions for future projects. Thank you for trying my game.
love the tentacle guy and the music!
thank you random admirer! the music is AMAZING in IMO
Initially i thought the idea of throwing things might not be fun but this was executed very well and was quite fun! The conveyer belts are a bit slow and you do have to wait a while sometimes but regardless i managed to save the planet and i'm happy about it lol
Only issue i encountered was the first green gem always got stuck and wouldn't come through even if i restarted the game, so i had to walk to the corner of my room, reset my view then walk to the other corner to just barely grab it and start the game, Not sure how you can reproduce this error because other people didn't seem to encounter it.
Good job and thanks for taking the time to make something! (also the voice acting was suprisingly good :)
Like RunningOnCoffee said the voice and tentacle where brill, the high up conveyer belt caught me alot, I didn't save the world :)
NOOOO. haha thanks- the tentacle and voice acting was totally last minute!
How are you able to give a tentacle character haha
I really liked the animation and voice acting.
The top conveyer belt was a bit difficult to manage when multiple things fell down, but besides that a very nice game and I was able to save the world!
thanks for the feedback-I'm glad you figured out the game world and were able to save the world!
I love the music and the atmosphere. I would have liked to be able to move around. I got stuck in the tutorial because I threw the green crystal in the wrong place and I couldn't get it back. The remote grab is a good idea for grabbing the crystals more quickly.
I like the visual. Without knowing the background, I could understand this game is horror/zombie-themed based on the art and environment. I had a hard time finding the green crystals at the beginning of the game. I think it would be better if the player can move.
The instructions were clear, so I knew what to do. Remote grab sorting, got it. For a little while, I didn't realize the stealth/closer conveyor belt, so pieces were dropping from the sky, it seemed like. I like how the red crystals are indicated by warning signs on the rollers. At one point, no less than 6 crystals all spawned at once at the 'higher up' spawner, which was impossible to catch all together, but that's a minor quibble. I was able to save the world and that's great, having a win condition. If anything, either a different layout of conveyors for multiple levels and/or a different position for the player might have helped to vary the gameplay, but great job on putting it all together!
I love this idea of multiple levels with different conveyor belts. Thanks for the feedback on this conveyor belt not being specific (The higher up one) Thanks for the praise and the wonderful feedback.
Loved the visual and the gameplay but I feel like it was way too short(finished in like a minute or two) maybe you could add some form of replayability via more levels or more difficulties :)
thank you for this feedback! Can you tell me more about your impression of the visuals and gameplay?
I don't quite know why I like the visual but it reminds me a bit of comics and cartoons and for the gameplay I think difficulties/levels could add more to the gameplay via numbers of crystals coming amount of places they can arrive, etc
Definitely!!!! When I come back to this project I'll be sure to address the levels and add a leveling system. thanks for the feedback
