Power Ups is a boost for any system that explicitly links written stories to character advancement and agency in dramatic RPG game moments.

Time & Players
As a practice, assigning prompts at the end of a session can be as brief as 5 minutes; the beginning read-aloud can take up to an hour. It can definitely be used with larger groups, but would require rotating read-alouds (2~5 students' work per session).

Rules, Tools, & Assessment
This is a tool to use with any story game; it requires nothing but the two sheets. It does not have an assessment tool. but the stories, after editing, can be assessed as part of a portfolio. I recommend letting students pick their favorite piece after a story arc concludes, then preparing it for a final submission - pair that with an evaluation of the first piece in their portfolio, add a grade for growth, and you're celebrating all the right things to encourage learning!
