Cool idea, and it's a neat storyline. I would love to see your full take on the game, because the branching choices sound interesting. I'm not much of an art guy, either, so these game jams are really great for practicing. But sometimes, it's nice to just borrow art online and focus on the pure design/programming. 🙂 Interesting use of React again! The enhanced interactivity is neat to see. I'm excited to continue seeing the progress you make on your programming journey!

This was trippy. Not entirely sure the graphics behaved the way they should (the man and a table basically frantically switched between two positions with a frequency around 1Hz), but it was definitely an experience.

My "solution": Wife had an affair with another woman, he killed her with a hammer and made it look like a car accident.

ohhhh I didn't knew that happened! I saw that on my smartphone and it was flickering, but in my computer was completely normal. Next time I'll check.

And your solution it's: true

I commend you for putting a story into your 3-hour project. I liked being able to learn more about the backstory as the game progressed. I also found it quite novel that the dialogue was delivered via pop-ups. This could be an interesting plot device or character trait if contrasted against more conventional means of delivery.

Great work on the visuals as well, especially for having had so little prior experience. I recommend collecting albums of art you find visually appealing and using that as stylistic reference in your projects. Stick to a limited and consistent palette. You can use a "gradient map" to restrict any arbitrary photograph to a certain set of colors. I use it in Photoshop, but Gimp is a free program that (I just googled it and it) has this feature.

Looking forward to seeing your project next week!

Thanks for the advice! I have Gimp installed, but when I see all those buttons I get scared and I've never really put the time to learn to use it properly. But you encouraged me hehehe.

And about the pop-ups, that was really never my intention to use them hahahaha but I had less than an hour to make all the mechanics development and I didn't had time to make some "normal" pop-up cute message interface, so it was the fastest thing I imagined hahahaha. But I think it could be an interesting idea, to put it in a game and make it more like an immersion thing.

Thanks for the feedback!

Combam back at it again with ReactJS! Cool to see some more interactivity in this one, but tbh had more fun slipping on ice last week ;)

Nice work on the art though, and getting something done in 3 hours

hahahaha I also had more fun last week. I've never been an art guy. I really like to solve problems and the mathematics of programming, so this was more like a challenge. I really really wanted to put a lot more time on the game mechanics. It was going to be more like a neuronal network, where you can get the man on the screen to be mad or sad depending on the object you clicked on, and the main goal was to discover the full crime history confession without being kicked by the man, because he could be really mad if you ask him directly about the key elements of the crime.

But I really like to do the mathematics of slipping in the ice hahahaha.
