This game epitomizes the impact sound design and music can have in creating a true atmosphere. That combination is the best part of the experience; aural reactions were always timely to what was going on in the story, really lending a sense of awe and intensity to the whole experience. The 2.5D art-style was also a nice touch. The game manages to blend those artistic elements in very naturally in a way which does not feel forced at all. The story arc is also extremely unique; subverting the Touhou expectation is always a plus in my book, and lends towards the humanization of the characters themselves. Putting these two in such a relationship is interesting on its face and not something I've seen before in other works with these characters.

I'm writing this review after one ending (which I think was the intended one), but I do have to agree it's not exactly apparent what I have to do to collect the other endings outside of answer differently on the final question, and the game itself largely being a walking sim makes it hard to replay back for all those endings, especially since you cannot skip read text or save in-game as far as I could tell. There was also some parts towards the end where the writing really could have been improved; particularly in environmental storytelling. I would have loved to have known what the poem in JP read in the cooling tower, for instance. (Though I do like that Maribel just has no idea what any of the Touhou references mean, it's very clever.)

The fact this was done in three days was also intriguing to me; it has a lot more polish than even our two-week Jam projects have. This is a very well put-together game which I think should find a lot of success.

It feels very cold and warm. Very textured and vague. Merry's rational analysis of her irrational experiences was brilliant. Don't mind me, I'm just basking in the god rays, as something inside me is being absorbed.

Banger game....

I don't know much about hifuu, shamefully, but I really love the artstyle and commitment to atmosphere.

First-person Hifuu game! I've wanted something like this for a long time.

The atmosphere in this game is unmatched... The art for the graffiti is pretty nice, and the textures are quite good. Also, *SPOILERS* that was a good decision at the end, I feel a 3D model would have been too jarring *END SPOILERS*.

I'd appreciate some graphical options, the game was quite demanding for my laptop with integrated graphics.

The writing is fascinating, and it's interesting to see the roles reversed and have Merry chasing Renko instead.

There's a real mastery of the atmosphere in this game.

AMAZING GAME! Each and every second sent shivers down my spine. I think that some areas may have taken me a bit too long to walk through like the stairs but it's understandable. The overall map and the vibe it gives off was creepily well done. So yes, I would come with you.

The exploring and the experience is quite something.
Truly haunting and immersive. The writing and character building is nothing short of masterful.

This was a really neat visual novel! I feel like the gameplay is a little tedious though. As pickled peanuts mentioned, right at the end of the subway is when it starts to feel less engaging.

Because of this and in addition to other things, I've only found two out of four of the endings and I'm not sure how I'd unlock the others because of the limited interactivity in the game.

In the subway, I'm not sure if so much of the graffiti is supposed to say (something along the lines of) "This looks like very old graffiti" when you examine it. Also, I'm not sure if you're supposed to be able to read the scripture written in kanji in the second-to-last level. It takes up a big portion of the wall like the text in the movie theater did, but there's no way to examine it and read the contents of it if you're an English speaker. Also, around this level and the one after it feels like performance and framerate dropped significantly—and I actually own a really beefy computer. That could have been a figment of my imagination though.

Overall, I still liked it however! Thank you very much for making it. :)

A stunning visual novel! the environments were beautiful and at times surreal to the point where sometimes I just stood in place and drank it in (the rooftop and the staircase especially). the writing was well done and the subversion of the Touhou fangame genre was refreshing. I do have a few criticisms, firstly some ambiance would help fill out some of the more empty feeling parts of the game (like the movie theater). At times, after the beauty of the landscape lost its luster, the game felt like a walking sim (the subway and the top half of the staircase comes to mind). Other than that, it was an amazing experience.
