This is really well put together and a really cool concept

Developer

thanks for playing!

this game is very much inspired by Buckshot Roulette and Fire Tower. (The board game)

Really cool idea and well tuned rules - this could work as a physical card game! Online/local multiplayer would be the cherry on top of a really neat game. Great stuff

thanks for playing!
the funny thing is, I did actually prototype this game using a 54 card bicycle deck.

Jokers were Tower Cards, black cards were utilities, red-odd cards were redraws, and red-even cards were nothing.

Used poker chips to represent the utilities which were determined via diceroll.

I'm thinking that if I ever did implement multiplayer,

it would likely be through the Steam Version as Valve allows network transport and lobbies at no additional cost.

(Would have to refactor a lot of code to ensure data between clients is synchronized tho. T-T)

Here was my video of it:

thanks for playing!

The window size issue has been finally been fixed.

sry it took so long for me to figure out.

im also sorry to inform you that the windows version that was played was the outdated version which lacks many fixes.

The jam edition for Windows has been promptly replaced with the current version.

Unfortunately, i do not have other games as well put together as this.

All good, thanks!

I really liked this one, never thought I'd play a strategy game in a fire tower. Nice mechanics, nice idea, lots of strategy, my only issue is it has no pass the mouse mode for two players

thanks for playing!

Perhaps I could consider a "pass the mouse" mode for retail release.

Though some things like the spyglass might rely heavily on an honor system.

Honestly I find the spy glass to be not super useful with only a few variations in the cards

Developer (3 edits) (+1)

This is very true.

The spyglass was initially planned to have a bigger role in revealing potential traps hidden underneath a card.

This utility was unfortunately scrapped due to its complexity and the (Pirate Software) game jam time constraints.

3 card types definitely isn't much, but I suppose it comes down to how you leverage the info using your Utilities.

I know some cool things you can do are:

  • Spyglass => Find Redraw card => Use Hatchet on said Redraw card to cancel it.
  • Spyglass => Find Utility Card on enemy's field => Use Arson to "steal" said Utility Card.

Or if you have two Arsons:

  • Spyglass => Find Redraw Card on enemy's field => Use Arson to activate the Redraw => Use another Arson

Though no one is expected to really know these tactics, but I feel as though employing them definitely affects who wins.

Ah I see, very cool.

Hi!

This is an incredible game and I really enjoyed it. One bug that I found was that if you are holding a hatchet when you flip your tower card to lose, the card gets flipped but the game continues until you can't flip any more cards and it's softlocked.
