I think this game is pretty good, but the enemies and humans spawn in the same order, so if I memorize the order they go in, I don't need to look at the image at all. The visuals and game mechanics are good and I think that with a bit more polish, this game would be great. Good job!

Developer

Thanks for playing my game and giving feedback. It's my first game so all feedback is greatly appreciated.

The spawn order was next off my list to do before I ran out of time. The fact you noticed means you must have done a few run throughs - that's a positive for me.

I had a list of other things I could do if I time or come back to this one: better sounds and animations, more stages, more enemy/ally images, more 'tricks' to confuse player. I'm just pleased how much I got done in 2 days.

Nice game. I liked the clean visuals of the map and the characters too. Unfortunately after the third room I was killed very fast, even with the enemies barely spawned.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback. I am glad you liked the visuals - my dev partner did the work on those. We had a few options for the "target ID view" and settled on this one due to time constraints - I think it worked quite well.

I'll look into the issue you had.  Was it 3rd room on Easy or Medium Stage?

It may be related to either:

- Poor balance. The decision time is on the short side (~3 - 5secs) to force quick reactions and thus player errors, but this may be too hard

- 3rd room Medium Stage is when "red" does not necessarily mean enemy and shooting them causes you to lose a life. I didn't get time to animate this "error" to be obvious to the player.

Yes, that's it. It was on medium and I thought it was to continue killing the red ones. I will try again

Glad I could help. It's in the game description but not the game itself (lack of time). The idea is to shoot the robots (press space) and pass (hold space) on the humans. The color system is an aid, but not a guarantee. Look for evidence of robot parts on the image window.

I set it up so:

1. Easy stage the color is always correct. This is to train the player to rely on the system.

2. Medium: the color is sometimes correct. Now the game is in full swing and you have to engage the mechanics fully.

I updated and bolded the instructions on the game page so it's easier to understand

Nice little game, the theme of Two Colors was present, but by the end, I stopped paying attention to them as the robots/humans could be any of the two colors. Liked the concept haven't seen anything like it.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback and I'm glad you liked it. I tried hard to come up with something unique for this jam.

That was the intent with the Two Colors ID system - to train the player to rely on it then slowly make it irrelevant/distracting rather than helpful. Unfortunately, given the short jam time I had to go from it being always reliable (Easy Stage) to never reliable (Medium Stage) rather quickly - if this ramp-up was slower I think the effect would be greater.

I also had some ideas to use color/music and more types of human/robot targets to deceive/distract the player, but time did not permit. It also probably needs to randomise the target order (this is currently fixed so there is limited replay value).
