Not a bad attempt, I found it a bit difficult to start, you take a lot of damage from head on encounters (which you've given health packs for either way) and you need to dodge turrets constantly aiming at you (which you can destroy in most cases) - I think this difficulty spike is a bit high to start with, and the enemies sometimes seemed to hit me when using a hit and run tactic which didn't show through an animation.
All in all a good submission.
A really good attempt at a fighter style game. The art looked very clean and the sprites were very professional with the animations being very smooth when attacking. I felt that the turrets were a bit too over the top and it was very difficult to complete the level and i felt that maybe reduce the amount of turrets within the game. Overall a really good go.
Strong entry, good looking sprites and animatons with at first difficult gameplay, but unfortunalty did manage to break it and find a very easy exploit to where I was able to avoid every enemy and get to the exit without attacking once. Right after the 3rd healthpack if you continue running upwards you completly run through the wall and over the stage and over all the enemies all the way to the exit.
Pretty good game with really cool looking sprites and really nice animations. The implementation of heath packs was a really cool idea. It would have been even better if there was a difficulty progression because I personally found the beginning to be quite difficult. You should all be really proud though - great game!
A solid attempt at creating a side scrolling beat-em-up with some decent visuals and nice indication as to the goal of the game. Getting to the end of levels was challenging and a fairly engaging experience that required a couple of plays to complete.
A couple of points stand out, however, with the first being the character and enemy sprites which seem striking similar to Megaman NES which have a lot of sprite sheets available online. Using such assets as inspiration are fine, but definitely be careful when replicated copyrighted work as a lot of your sprite animations are quite similar. Secondly, I don't think there was much consideration with the difficulty of the game as there are parts of the first level that are incredibly difficult without extremely precise moments and timings. I don't feel like the turrets were a good choice and that having more complex fighting (blocking, etc.) and a variety of enemies would have been a stronger alternative, feel free to disagree with me on this. Finally, controls feel a bit repetitive since spamming 'K' over and over till the enemy dies whilst having to avoid the turret occasionally is more frustrating than engaging.
All in all, this was a good submission that has some room for improvement. Definitely has the core aspects of a good game, but is lacking in various parts which could have been addressed with significant playtesting. Good work nonetheless.
I enjoyed playing this, the sprites are great and I like the diversity of the enemies. I think the game could definitely benefit from some kind of feedback when you hitting an enemy, as well as maybe a knockback as it's really hard to hit them without them hitting you. Otherwise a really solid game, nice one!
Visually nice looking game, I do think it could use a few improvements with the gameplay however.
The enemies in the game move the same speed as the player, which makes it hard to escape them if you need to regain your health. The bullets however move faster than the player, making them even harder to avoid, especially when the screen is cluttered. The game could also use some sound effect or music in it, but I've seen your other comment about that, and it's entirely fair as to why they're not included.
I liked how the game's title screen was readable and concise, and explained both the controls and objective to the player.
It was a really good attempt, well done!
A well made game liked the who visuals of the character and enemies within this and that you had a menu screen with instructions made it clear on how to play, I would of liked to of seen abit more such as different characters and more sounds within the game such as shooting sound effects and background music to make your game stand out more and make me want to play for a longer duration, but it is clear an attempt was made on this and its still a great game overall so well done!
Thanks for your suggestions, we were originally supposed to have sound fx in game and also music but unfortunately the member of our group who was supposed to create these didnt so at the last minute we had to cut out sound from our game I do however agree that it would of made the game stand out more and made people want to play it for longer so if we have more time it definately would of been something we would of implemented.
