Project Title
Quasar

Description of Your Project
A rhythm game where you click mouse or space to jump, can jump in mid air, flappy bird. Game's first idea is to focus on having a good number of levels, so i tried to make a cool looking UI that makes me able to have lots of levels accesible for the player, so i opted for this computer like UI

Goals and Milestones
i started this game may or may january 6th, and i was pretty much "the sky is the limit", until i got a bit tired of it, and started the milestone where i would need to finish this game before febuary - and i did, released the game january 27th.

Then, i found this jam and decided to keep working on game a bit more to submit it, and on febuary i made a couple of stuff, added more levels, and changed a bit game idea for something more accesible for me... everything behind the scenes.

I wanted to submit the project earlier but i feel im not really finished with it. But in order to know properly what i need to do, and how to add everything i made without updating, i need feedback on the current game. Maybe the finished game can be the submision for TAGAP build 3? (yes, this game is kinda done, my goal is to make a sequel of the game based on feedback with this one)

Team Members
me, myself and i (solo)

External Assets Used
the only external assets are one or two sprites from packages (a gear, a chat symbol and a triangle, not too much), and NCS songs

Feedback Focus
Mostly on gameplay, i want to know if game is fun. But i focused so hard on visuals that i think they are good, but feedback still appreciated

Additionally, I got the following feedback from an art director:

"The game has a strong visual presence, well done on that. However, the main menu UI lacks clarity and focus, making it feel both too empty and requiring too many interactions to reach the first level.

Once in-game, though, the visuals are striking. The player character, however, lacks sufficient readability. There needs to be a clearer hierarchy where the player stands out against the background elements. While environmental hazards must remain visible, the player's prominence should never be compromised.

The camera feels too zoomed in, but this is subjective and gameplay related. GG, nice work!"

Hello! The core gameplay is fun for me. I would like to see things like a scores, leadboards and maybe procedurally generated infinite level? If you need a simple free tool for the scores/leadboards, check out SilentWolf. It was built for Godot but it is possible to port the HTTP calls to Unity easily :)

I spotted some technical issues that you might want to iron out in the next TAGAP Build UP. The issues I found are:

1. UI is too small when played on high resolution.
2. The game is playing in slow motion when it is windowed.

I know at the moment the songs are a bit are external assets, but would be nice for them to match the in game beat as it would improve the experience a lot...there are a couple of musicians in the TAGAP's Discord server and a "I need a team channel" if you need some help with that :)

Hello! thx for feedback. So, NCS songs are not just external assets im using to fill gaps, im really going to use NCS label for the game, as this is going to be a rhythm game. I dont have a discord account now (and im not really considering starting one right now due to personal stuff soooo), so sadly for now maybe i will have no acess to song producers for team with.

Idk exactly what you mean by scores and leaderboards, level design wasnt supposed for this so levels are too linear for adding score stuff and leaderboards... Also, an infinite level dont seem doable as i dont generate levels procedurally and all songs ends sooner or later.

Cool that you liked the gameplay. As most of the game is playing levels and finding songs, a good gameplay is the most important thing in this game lol. i will try to fix the issues you found. Thx for playing!
