I love watching a gradual descent into madness. This story is a tragedy. Everybody's so obsessed with the appearance of propriety, they repeatedly fail to address issues, even as things spiral out of control. The ending is messy... physically, of  course, but emotionally too, and somehow the game kept surprising me right until the very end. Almost every character was more complex than I expected. The ending leaves some questions unanswered, but they're also beside the point. Finally, shout out about the art. It's all good, but Lilia's art is incredible and terrifying.

Man, reading this VN while in the midst of what feels like a growing conservative movement that limits people's ability to speak freely online and even itchio having to enforce a ban on paid adult content, it felt cathartic, even as it broke my heart and filled me with dread.

I started reading this while in the midst of playing Umineko and not being able to play the next chapter at the moment; I'm assuming there were some influences in how text is depicted differently for different influences, and maybe even in how someone in a traumatic situation ends up merging with a higher magical entity to help enact their revenge, to just how visceral the violence feels to read. I do like the different tone chirps for different characters, I really like the shift from bottom text to full screen to speech bubbles, and I do appreciate the simple but very useful UI that lets me both look at the history and scroll back a screen at my leisure.
