Nice, the speed and zoom upgrades make it really interesting - beeing faster than the wave was a good choice.
The boat graphics could be more clear about nose and rear ;)

How do I start the rescue progress slider, I saw it once starting to get green but couldn't reproduce...
You have to hit repeatedly the space key. In the top says "spam space".
