Teammates: Mika, Vinny, Kieron, Hez.

The player switches back and forth between a pastel world and a neon world. The neon world contains enemies that you have to avoid and you move very quickly, where in the pastel world, time stops and it is safe. You have to keep moving. The reason the world is changing is because the player is on aesthetic.

So ... the player may choose to flip temporarily to pastel mode in order to dodge a nasty enemy.  What would stop them playing in pastel mode all the time?  I'm guessing there's a negative aspect (e.g. slowing down, but not as slow as enemies).  Hence the skill would come in deciding when to switch.  Have I understood correctly?

There will be a sort of 'Portal' in the pastel world that the player will have to hit in order to continue, there will be an obstacle in the pastel world that the player can't pass until they reach the neon world which will show the path across.
