How does your submission fit the jam's theme?
The protagonists have a detective tool from their neighborhood grandpa called the Backwards Corruption Jump that lets them corrupt potential suspects in a glitchy environment, where if they succeed in defeating them, they can rewind the suspects back to the past in a slightly corrupted state where they're forced to repeat their testimony but without the lies. This game also lets players pick if they want to be a corrupted detective by pinning their own murder onto someone else, rather than finding out the truth.

I played this and I found that this game was honestly a 5/5 Game!
I love the subtle (and not-so-subtle) references, the comedy, and the overall story and visual quality.

It's worth the full play if!

a specific sound effect in a game (possibly the select sound effect) makes my ears bleed, it's probably a combination of lag and/or how loud it is. Can you fix it?

Jam Judge

This might already be fixed in the complete version, but FYI that when I started the game with my controller plugged in it was giving ghost inputs causing me to scroll through all menus despite nothing being pressed.

Please use the Vinesauce version when judging for this jam.

The Complete version is the full game, which was finished outside the jam. If you want to play this without judging it for the jam, please play the complete version.

Was just about to ask this. Thanks for letting us know! :D

Added a fix for certain object interactions causing a softlock.

Interacting with objects should be easier now too, as there were situations where the text boxes won't trigger properly if you're colliding with them too close.

If you interact with The NO LOAF'n poster while holding up the game softlocks (keyboard controls)

EDIT: Seems to be the case with most objects near that wall.

Thanks for letting me know.

I'll get a fix for that sometime tomorrow for the game jam build.

Just letting you know that you're all good since that exact room is when the game jam build ends. Interacting with the Duke Wyre Wess, the shades guy in that room, will just have tell you that the game ends here for now.

Anyways, thanks for playing! Do your best with judging all the 131 games in this jam.

Edit: My bad. I was thinking of a different room. I know what you mean and that room is early in the game. I'll get that fixed soon.

Developer(+1)

Okay. It is now fixed.

It shouldn't softlock now.

Added another fix too where some text boxes won't trigger if you're directly touching them too close.

Love everything about this, great work! Laughed out loud at the game over screen. I'd love to see this continued

Developer

Fixed issue with buffs in battle not working, as well incorrect text box triggers.

This is probably the last bug fix for the game jam version before I move on to the full version that I'll set as a separate download button for people outside the jam. I did made a copy of the game jam project files, so if there's another bug, let me know and I'll fix that version.

Developer

I have now added the bug fix for save files!

Added a critical bug fix that fixes the softlock when you reach the cafe, as well as fixing some minor grammar issues on text boxes and the issue with text choices repeating

I'll be adding another bug fix later when I get back from my job since save files were actually not working

Developer

I was gonna have a web browser build version for everyone, but we just barely went over the file number limit for browser builds. All I can provide right now for the jam is a Windows build.
