Welcome to ShroomJam!

It's a game jam, but themed around the Vinesauce Twitch channel.

You have a certain amount of time (1 week in this case) to make a game based on the theme. It'll then get judged and ranked alongside a bunch of other peoples' games. The best of the best will then be played on-stream at some point. Hopefully.

What's the theme?

Corruptions

Throwing random bytes at software to screw it up in various ways is a staple of the stream. Now it's time to make some games about it! Clown vomit, mismatched tiles, pink dead characters and more await.

What are the rules?

  1. Submissions must follow the Twitch Community Guidelines.
  2. If your game contains flashing images and/or loud noises, add a warning on startup.
  3. Game must be playable on Windows 10/11 and/or web.
  4. Keep super heavy/divisive/political topics out of it. This jam is for fun, so keep it fun!
  5. Your game and any original assets for it must be made within the submission window.
  6. Your submission must implement the jam's theme in some way.
  7. If your submission has text, it needs to be in English by default.
  8. In the interest of fairness, the max team size is 3 people. You can have an extra playtester on-top of that if you'd like.
  9. While using original assets by you or a team member is encouraged, external assets are allowed if you have the rights to use them.
  10. None of the original assets made for your submission can be AI-Generated.
  11. Tabletop games, mods, music and other things that aren't original videogames can not be accepted.
  12. Updates made during the voting period must be bug-fixes only. No new content or significant gameplay changes.
  13. Not quite a rule, but it's a good idea to make a web build of your game available if possible. This can help avoid technical issues.

Failing to adhere to these rules will get your submission disqualified until the issue is resolved.

How are the games ranked?

At the end of the submission period, the judges will vote on each submission for Entertainment, Creativity, Visuals, Audio and Theme Use. These will be averaged by Itch.io's usual system to determine the final ranking.

Where do I discuss the jam?

You can discuss the jam, ask questions and find teammates in the community tab built-in to this jam page. There aren't currently any plans to set up a public Discord server or anything similar for ShroomJam.
