Judge feedback

Judge feedback is anonymous.

  • This only minimally follows the jam theme in my opinion. The controls are not particularly intuitive and it was difficult to determine if the player was close enough to the slime to hit it or not. Also the timing on blocking felt random and there was no real visual or auditory feedback as to how successful your blocks are or are not. It was a good effort and I hope you continue to compete in future jams as experience is valuable.

Pros: Pretty fun little game! Fighting the slimes is fast-paced and satisfying, I love the graphics and the way the background moves like you're going around a planet and the sound is decent.

Cons: Not sure how it relates to the theme, though maybe I suck too much to get that far. xD The animation cue for when a slime is about to attack is a little too fast as well. I think it should be slowed or there should be more impact when it's about to attack like a screen shake.

I like the player's attacking and defending poses!
I recommend a more visible visual cue to warn of a anticipated slime's incoming  attack- I noticed there is an "angry vein" symbol that appears above their head- but I would make it appear sooner- or make the slime graphic vibrate/shake as well. Keep jamming!

Nice game, although the controls are a bit weird. For example, attacking and defending could be set to the two mouse buttons, which would be more intuitive to players. The attacking animation looks great! There should also be an input field where players can input their username to show up on the leaderboard. Overall, this game looks good and plays well. Could you take the time to check out my game too?
