Excellent story, great use of the tiles and characters (especially the little custom animations for head shakes and sleeping, etc). The beginning is a little dicey with the bugs attacking as often and as hard as they do, and gold doesn't freely flow as often. However, by the second area (especially after you get a second member) it eases up to doable.

Suggestion: Definitely tune the start of the game to be a little easier for the player and/or adjust the cost of the inn at the start.

Thank you for the feedback, HawkZombie :) I remember watching  you play the game on your stream which was quite the experience to watch. Especially since you were the first judge who played the game :) And I will never forget you wholeheartedly laughing when my nickname appeared in the credits xD

Hey Teal, thanks for playing and uploading this stream :) Got to admit it is kinda painful to see yet another judge maneuver through the balancing issues :/ But I had the feeling that you still enjoyed your time with the game and it was heartwarming to watch :)

This game has a simple intro, cute low res sprites and decent sound design. The song choice is good and I like the menus. The battle system isn't bad, but you need to do one more balancing pass.

The paralyze lasts too long, and the first enemies you fight use a skill called Annoyance. This should be a double attack instead of a triple attack.

The player's spells cost quite a bit of MP however it becomes more in line when you reduce the MP consumptions by 50% later on with the use of an accessory. Without everyone having that item on it feels too expensive.

Make all of the resting points free to use. All the enemies come back after resting, that could be the trade-off. The price tag to not die is incredibly high.

The roundhouse kick move is entirely too weak and should also only cost less. Double it's damage and adjust it's MP cost. How are you expected to win vs three of these paralyzing triple attacking bunnies at the sticks and stones chest? The player is expected to grind a little bit which is fine, but you need the shield, the use of items and some luck to win. It's a tough battle, and it will be GG if a paralyze lands. Maybe make a version of the enemies that don't paralyze for that fight.

The cave birds have a bit too much HP and Excessive flap is overpowered. For an AoE it should deal less damage.(-25% or so)

The shield should give a few more defense points. The defense from the hat may be too high(8), maybe it should give 6?  Feathered Hat also seems like a massive DEF bonus. Maybe drop it by 3 or 4 points?

Thank you for making the poison automatically removed after combat, that was a good choice.

I like the hidden chests. The rock is barely noticeable, but it is. I like the railroading mechanics you use like the shears and coil spring. The map design is done pretty well. Good job!

I like the animations on the sprites and when the fairies toss the counter and bed down. Well done.

This is the game that I've spent the most time with in this game jam(maybe 2 hours?) because even though it's really hard, it's compelling and you see character progression along the way. I had to see the ending and it was a good one. I feel satisfied upon beating it.

Overall, I really enjoyed this game. I think it's a little bit too hard at the beginning, but it gets easier as you play. Keep up the good work, I would like to see more games from you in the future. Thanks for submitting a project to the jam!

Thank you so much for this detailed feedback, Drifty! Really appreciate it :) The fact that you played the game for approximately two hours to see the ending feels very flattering. I was struggling to complete the game as the deadline approached so quite a lot of balancing and proper testing got thrown under the bus. If I had managed my time a bit better I might have been able to spot and correct some of the issues you encountered. I am glad that you enjoyed the game overall :)

Pretty good game! I loved the graphics, specially because you actually took your time to polish and make good animations even for small things. The sound and graphic feedback is also pretty nice (which made me want to keep cutting bushes)!
The game is kinda difficult, specially at the beginning because the Buckler it's not really obvious. That didn't bother me, because I usually like challenging RPGs where the strategy is important. But other players may find it frustrating.
Really fun! Rated 5

Thank you so much for the 5 stars, Opalablue :) Really appreciate it! I actually considered respawning the bushes upon resting but I thought cutting them all over again might feel tedious.

First of all, I love this small rez, pixel art maps, especially tower/dungeon map was really neat! Also animations for sleeping and interactions was really fun!

Concept of respoint, and little grind to go to the end of maze for final battle in every map also was fun, with little twist like jumping over holes and finding levers. It keeps game fresh and playing was fun to the end :)

Music was good, but mix of animation and sound effect was on top-level, you really can be proud of this part!

First level was most difficult, with need of grind, to get lvl and eq to beat final boss, but with triple attack I was ready for the fight. Only problem that I encounter was with multiple bugs, keeps me paralyzed/stunned? So I got beaten without any chance to move or prevent it ( and just watched my character HP goes down XD ) When we got companion, all fights get only better with more possibilities and ways to react.

The plot seems still little enigmatic for me, but bringing all the fairies to next levels and getting character older with every map, gives feeling of progress. Also final scene with what we accomplished was satisfying.

So it is fun to play, relaxing game, which some parts was really on top level. You can be proud of this entry :)

Thanks for the feedback, Kracy :) Really appreciate it! The stun can be prevented by equipping the Buckler that you can buy after saving the blue fairy. There is a hint in its item description but I probably should have made that a little bit clearer :/ The story is supposed to be a little bit enigmatic. There is a clear intention behind all of it and I am curious whether somebody might figure it out :)

Very pretty game, I am hooked so far. I will have to comment back after I beat the game. I like the custom battles though and the animated edges on the border of maps, didn't even know you could do that!

Developer

Thank you for the kind words, res1fwfu :) By animated edges you probably mean the scrolling backgrounds, don't you? You can implement those by pressing right-click on the map name in the bottom left corner, go to edit and then set a parallax background :) The battles are improved with the Battle Core plugin by VisuStella :)
