Footage is absolutely insane. Really cool concept here. Lends itself to some really cool movement probably. Copyrighted songs is crazy, but those are classics I haven't heard in a while so they get at least a couple points. Difficult to find too many things to say about this game when I wasn't actually able to play it. Going for a nonstandard development path is commendable and impressive, but perhaps not wise under such a tight deadline. Very chaotic. Stand proud, you're strong.
Like SY64I, I immediately saw the similarities between this game and Apodi-Lydia. Where Chromashift implements more innovative gameplay aspects, Apodi-Lydia puts much more focus on the art style. I also found the way you credited Lenny as a Senior Dev while everyone else are just Interns to be hilarious.
Apart from the Windows Defender issue, the song choice will impact the chance of the game releasing commercially due to copyright *should* you decide to do so, so keep in mind to use royalty free sounds and music as good practice.
Now having seen the video of gameplay, we can now see at least see what this game was meant to be. Funny how both of our submissions went with the bullet hell game idea. The mechanics of swapping the colors to alter which bullets hurt you and which don't is definitely more novel than my more standard fast-slow movement style gameplay however, so props for that.
And although they're somewhat out of place in the gameplay, I respect the song choices as well. The graphics as well look bad, but they feel intentionally bad, which is hilarious and fits in well with the vibe of the game. Also love how the on the title screen the game is just titled "Game". Shame the game isn't playable though. Hopefully someday the mysteries of compiling python code that doesn't make Windows panic about it being a virus can be solved.
Windows wouldn't let me run this game.. would you consider building to WebGL on a separate project so I can check it out there?
Sure thing. I will try make a build with WebGL.
Yeah, clicking the .cmd file only removes the .exe file.
I recompiled the game into a single .exe, so it should work now. I tried to test it on my roommates computer, but Windows defender auto deleted it. I also tried to build it with WebGL, but I didn't have any luck with that.
Windows Defender still deleted it for me.
