Very well designed... It makes me keep coming back for more. Good thing I love the art! Here's a link to my playthrough... https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1563327876?t=00h33m11s
Thank you so much, I really appreciate it!
I've added now some tutorial-text in the first level, so the mechanics are clear from beginnig :)
So you will see, that you are also able to dash, what is really helpful!
Version 1.0.2 is now on the itch.io page
Oh cool! Nice work!
Respect Of the Theme - Very respectful and conveys its intent to honor the theme clearly.
Originality - I don't feel as though the mechanics really pushed "falling" beyond the initial prompt.
Fun to play - This game relies on a trial / error methodology of progression. I would have liked a map maybe of the level so I could make informed decisions on where to jump. The timer made me think "get to the bottom as fast as possible" eg. "platforms and things that slow you down bad" I died from fall damage. I think the metric by witch a player measure progress is juxtaposed to mechanics at play.
Effort - There are a few systems at play in this game, pickups, death traps, fall damage, platforming, timers, and multiple levels. This is a lot to implement in ~48 hours. For that, well done and congratulations!
Beauty - Consistent, crisp, pixely. Very yes, well done!
The black text on top of the dark purple was not very pleasing as it was kind of hard to see. I liked the music and design of the character falling from the top of a castle. I did not like the limited lives aspect as I personally found it already hard enough just to reach the bottom. Enjoyment factor for me was about a 2/5. It was very trial by error. All of the graphics aside from the aforementioned purple were great though! Overall loved the color scheme for the whole game. Also enjoyed it had options to turn the music up or down. The spikes were not really a difficulty. They happened so far and few between that they did not seem nearly as challenging as just falling fast enough to win, but not too fast to die. So if I had to sum it up... the game is pretty, but could not keep my attention long enough to try more than ten times or so.
First of all congratulations, for the proposal, the atmosphere and the gameplay works well, however I regret having had the life system, just the timer a little tighter would have given enough challenge. Especially since starting over from the first level is frustrating
So, first of all
I f-ing love the music. Reminds me of celeste. The art is amazing. I love it. The game is fun and hella polished.
Now to the bad stuff (although there isn't really much to say anyways)
A lot of times, I couldn't see platforms, so I had to use my memory. The player is too slow for such game. That's it (oh, and I don't really like the fact that I gotta start over whenever I lose)
Anyways, awesome game. Great job!
