  • GDD: The document seems good! I enjoyed the minimum viable product, as it shows the game's progress and state. That is really good put together document. If I had to nitpicking, I would love to see images or gifs within the art section and perhaps explain more in depth in player experience section in the introduction. Game: I am glad to see main menu with options and credit. But I think the background could be more colorful, so it impacted with the gun. The first level feels like it is a later level than first level. I think one should slowly introduct the lazer beams, enemies and different functionality of the gun (bullet time as example). So I think having tutorial as a start would improve massively! Having a gamepad support would help a lot with control the direction of the gun than mouse. It would make it more fun for movement purposes if one could have an option in the setting as infinite ammo for accessibility or increase the ammo intake, so it is additional ammo on top of fixed 18 ammo. That being said, I can see why limited the movement to ammos would make it interesting gameplay, but it feels annoying after awhile for move around.

Have you checked that your GDD is publicly accessible ?
Yes

Is your game set to public on itch.io so we can see it?
Yes

Summarise your game!
A platformer where you are a gun. Every time you shoot, there's knockback. Shoot to either hit targets or navigate throughout the level. Shoot all targets to unlock the exit door.

Please explain how your game fits the theme:
You are a literal weapon, and everything you do is shooting related. Seems pretty weapon like to me.

Is there anything you'd like the judges to pay particular attention to?
There is a secret level, to get to it there is a hidden path in Level 6 that leads to an ammo refill (look for backgrounds). If Thor plays on stream, we'd like for you to tell him about this. We have prepared quite the surprise in the secret level.

Phew! Level 1 feels like the hardest out of all of em. Probably need an extended mag on that glock! I really like the animations of the shotgun and the glock though! I'd love to see the devs speed run the game game. I was able to beat 1 after a ton of attrition checked out the rest of them, but they were just way too hard. Music was cool, but actually ended while I was in my battle of attrition with level 1. So I got to focus in silence with just the SFX which were excellent btw. I like the modulation on the metal of the gun that's quite fun. Hard to do in a jam setting but try and ease your player into the game a little bit at a time so they can get time to get acclimated to the controls.

Overall presentation is great, difficulty curve is far too high.

I had a lot of fun with this. there were several levels I couldn't beat but I beat 5 and it felt like an accomplishment so here you go.

The first level definitely needs to be easier but I did beat it after some attempts.

I suggest making your first level easier. Gotta ease your player in and teach them a bit so they don't get too frustrated. The shooting mechanic feels pretty nice. Maybe some other mechanism to control the gun while he's on the ground would be a good addition, i didn't really like the mouse rotation controls for that. Overall though, nicely made game!! Good job!

The game is quite challenging indeed! The gameplay is simple to understand, and the movement feels nice too. I'd say 18 bullets for the handgun and 6 for the shotgun is quite harsh, I think you should ease in the difficulty a bit, especially at the start of the game, just to let the player familiarise with all controls first. Also, I think the ammo refills need to be more prominent. Larger and flasher icons would be nice, just to promote the fact that this needs to be collected!

Anyway, I think you've done a nice job making this awesome game! Well done!

A good game with a decent amount of difficulty. It takes a bit to get a handle on the controls but you can start moving pretty well once you get there. I think giving the first few levels a bit more of a tutorial style focus would be helpful in easing the player into the movement of the game without having to reduce the overall difficulty of the game. Besides that when I tried to corner some shots I was a bit surprised seeing them hit the walls so maybe shrinking the collision hit box that checks for walls on the bullets. Outside of that I think the level design was smart, the visuals and sound were nice, and the game expands upon itself in a smart way leading the player to more interesting situations as the game progresses

That's quite challenging for me, but just the right amount~ Very neat idea!

Damn, I suck at this game :D But anyways, I think its an awesome game and definitely one of the types some streamers will play. Its unique, it clumsy (in a good way), its challenging and its fun. First thing that got me was the weapon on main menu. I think it was an awesome decision. Had to spend some time figuring out how to play but once I did it made sense and was even more fun. Slow mode was sooo nice. Overall good game. Given more time I'm sure you would polish the UI and basically you already have a solid production game :)

Oh boy, this is tough. 😅 I'm historically pretty bad at these types of games, but that doesn't mean it's not fun!

Great level design!
