  • This game was very frustrating at the start until I got used to the jumping mechanic and understanding the charge! I had fun once I got the timing down. I think the artwork was done well and I liked all of the different animations, especially when you fall from a higher point and you lay down before continuing. I'm excited to see what comes next for you!

Aberration Escape was supposed to be a hard jumping platformer game in retro style with a unique design based on a limited palette without gradients or anything. During the climb the player would have to flip switches and sometimes teleport between shadows to turn off the lethal light coming out from certain light fixtures.

Sadly since this is my first game ever made without any coding knowledge prior to this, my aim fell short.

The game in it's current state is a fun and slightly challenging experience with a movement system that makes it easy to make mistakes that will cost you progression.

I really liked the story of modern scientists trying to tame the elusive alchemy and being punished for their own carelessness, ultimately unleashing a fearsome (but adorable) aberration upon the world.

Extra Notes
For being my first ever game, I am damn proud of myself. I worked my ass off for this and I know it wont be scored highly, but to me, it is worth a lot more than the sum of its parts.

I am going to take this game and work on it more and make it worthy of my original goal by adding all the mechanics I tried so hard getting into my game. I have learned so much in these 2 weeks, I am confident that I can grab the pieces of this game and mix them together by harnessing the power of silicone and alchemichal coding symbols. From the shadows it will be brought out into the light!

Also, I hope you guys have as much fun playing it as I did!

Impressive art style!

Thank you, I decided to incorporate the game jams theme of Alchemy into my palette, only giving me 3 colors + their mizxed results with the addition of black and white to represent the Shadows part of the theme. This gave me a total of 9 colors, so I had to get a little creative with the artwork.
