  • I am a big fan of Vampire Survivors type games and this was promising! You have the basic framework for something down, now all you need is sounds, animations and a leveling system. As for now, there is not a lot to actually play, it's missing a leveling system and I can't see any representation of the 'alchemy' theme. But, after your struggles with the game engine, you still did very well! Especially going to look forward to any updates and the progress for this one!

Did you include your Game Design Document as a Google Drive link?
Yes

Seriously... did you include your Game Design Document?
Yes

Is your game set to Public so we can see it?
Yes

Tell us about your game!
WASD controls, point + click to shoot, twin-stick shooter style. Was originally supposed to be like Vampire Survivors complete with level ups, multiple weapons, and passives that could unlock a weapon's ability to "evolve" into something more effective. Most of what you'll see is just default UE assets as placeholders. The straw that ultimately broke the camel's back in my case was fighting UE 4.23 for 2-3 hours on the player's XP component. The blueprint editor simply refused to acknowledge its existence, despite identical initialization steps to the health component, which you can see working in the game. I decided to cut my losses and save my own sanity and sleep instead.

Extra Notes
Technical limitations and time constraints cut the original vision very short. But I did have my passion for creating games reignited by a more formal competition. I'll be more prepared for the next one. :)

Sorry about your engine troubles! What you have works well, for what it's worth!

Sad to see you were unable to get the project all the way there.
The web limitation together with UE4 is indeed a hard one.

The concept described in your GDD sounds like it would match well with the theme.
Hopefully you won't run into these issues next time.
