  • Pretty neat! The game is pretty simple, barebones and rough around the edges but it works and that's what matters most! The controls feel a little weird but this game holds a lot of potential. Keep working on this!

Wanted to show give you a comment as you took the time to play and comment on my submission. Unfortunately, all I have is my MacBook..

That being said, the visuals you have presented are really impressive--I definitely wouldn't have guessed this was a 2 week project!

Please do ping me or reply to this comment if you ever release a browser or MacOS version--would love to give this a proper playthrough!

totally understand :) thanks for visiting the page!

An insane undertake for a jam. You guys managed to do a 3d game in 2 weeks. You are insane for even thinking this but you are crazy for managing it. A feel good aesthetic and relaxing music made for a relaxing game experience. A little bit more polish and more content and I would love to play it again. Keep up the good work.

thank you so much for playing, you're amazing!

First off, I want to say well done on your game! I really enjoyed your unique take on the theme. Wandering around, spreading the Kudzu, and taking out those Kudzu Bugs with the ball was incredibly satisfying. Also, I must commend you on the visuals – they are excellent, and your menu design is impressively clean and user-friendly. It's clear a lot of thought and effort went into these aspects.

I did want to mention something I noticed during gameplay. There seems to be an issue where the camera snaps in an unexpected way when Kudzu Bugs are between the player and the camera. This might be related to the Spring Arm's collision test. It's a minor thing, but addressing it could possibly smooth out the camera movement and enhance the overall gameplay experience.

Keep up the fantastic work! I'm looking forward to seeing how your game evolves and improves with these little tweaks.

The second area was TOUGH, but I finished it! Man seeing that ending screen was super satisfying. Really worked for that one, great job! Btw, I hate roaches and they remind of them, so seeing the boss was not a fun sight to see lol

The eyes in the cave right?!

That was a fun thing we added right near the end. It used to be in the open but the shadows with the glowing eyes was the right move with big ole bug.

A Space Station 13 Botanist's worst nightmare.

Was able to make it through the whole thing once I got the hang of how to spread Kudzu.

Fun to spread kudzu around and felt good to crush a line of bugs with the kudzu ball, but there were a couple things that stuck out to me.

The most egregious thing was performance. At the start it runs fine, but by the end my framerate was in the low 10's.

As for the game itself, I feel like the kudzu ball could use more range. It feels like the skill necessary to hit far away targets shouldn't cause any balancing issues. Also is there an ability for the R button? It never lit up for me so I wasn't sure if it bugged and wasn't letting me use it or if it just wasn't implemented. If there was no ability, I feel like an AoE spin attack with a longer cooldown would've been a great fit for it.

Overall it was fun spreading kudzu around!

Developer(+1)

Quite literally the ability for a spin was our idea for 'R', it's even in the game doc! However, we weren't able to get it in time. The performance was very tough to work around with all of our spawned items. Near the end, there are almost 30k items on the map. We did do quite a bit of work for performance.

LOTS of lessons learned in unreal for performance on this one :D

Developer

totally agree on all your feedback, thanks for playing!

Cool concept, I wasn't able to make it past the second area. The bugs were just keeping my percentage at 88% and I couldn't manage even with abilities to overcome their spawn rate and eating. Nice effort none the less! More game testing next time I think!

Developer

We agree!

Our whole team did make it past the second area, but we also knew the meta on how to spread the best. Lesson learned on difficulty. Thanks for your review. <3

Developer

absolutely a fair critique. The biggest miss in this slice is the fact that the bugs don’t stop spawning in an area at any point. If you get overwhelmed it’s impossible to keep up. Great feedback, thanks for playing!

This was awesome! I admit, I couldn't make it past the second area, but I had a great time! Figuring out how to shoot the leaf ball, dash to cover ground quickly, and whip away the bugs was a fun multi-tasking puzzle!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for your time playing!

The second area is tough, those bugs are mutants I tell yeah. We gotta just keep leaf balling them to SPREAD.

Developer(+2)

Thanks for giving it a go! Once you get behind the bugs can get out of control... thanks a lot for the feedback! -Corey
