Nice little game, though I'm not sure if there is a reason to stop and fiddle with electric boxes. I just ran all the way to the end. Like the music and the art is fitting.
A great start! Love the music and the theme. I like how the map zooms out and then back in at the start - very slick. I had trouble at first figuring out where the electric boxes were to turn them off. Maybe a little visual feedback when you get close to let you know they are interactable (like a little outline around the sprite maybe?). Some sound effects here and there would go a long way (like a little "hey!" or something when the cops find you?). Sometimes the camera was a little glitchy, flicking a bit left and right every other frame for a bit. And sometimes the NPCs did the same thing, twitching out. Overall, great effort!
Thank you!
I feel like we did about half the things we intended to do in this project, haha. I found a couple of sounds to add but ended up prioritizing other things before connecting them, we also have visual indicators for interactables somewhere in the project files but they aren't active in the live version.
The camera glitch is interesting, where did you notice it?
I suspect the NPCs twitch when bumping into each other, I forgot to turn off their collisions with each other, it's literally just a single check mark in the collision matrix.
Thanks for the feedback and for playing.
Woah! This is sick!
Where'd you get all your art from? The little guy is sick! The camera and player movement feels juicy, the music is a definite pump-up, and seeing the whole map from the start really helps ground the objective without explicitly stating anything. I love a game without overt tutorials.
Note, though, I was way faster than the cops. I found it pretty easy to get to the end. If you work on it further, you could introduce cops in cars or on bikes to make it more spicy.
Thank you!
We got the sprites from ELV Games, the pack is called Fantasy Dreamland - City, and the music is from the Spy Flick music pack by Ovani Sound which was on a Humble Bundle recently.
We originally intended to have a lot more mechanics in the game, such as a stamina bar so you couldn't outrun the cops forever, throwable objects to create distractions and a taser for the cops that would slow you down from a distance. Life got in the way however so we couldn't spend as much time as we would have wanted on this project. I even implemented shadow casters on the tilemap but Unity kept crashing when I activated them and I couldn't fix it in time so they had to be cut.
Maybe we'll update the game later, in any case thanks for playing. :)
