Just a warning, the tracks weren't organized in an order that would make sense in-game, so ill clarify the placement of some of the tracks.

Track 1 : I thought it would be a cute idea that the mother is a clarinet player, and that the lullaby is actually played by the mother! The clarinet part is used as a leitmotif later in the soundtrack.

Track 2 : This track would play at the end of the game, for the very last level. It's heavily inspired by Kingdom Valley's music from Sonic 06.

Track 3 : This would play in a sort of chase level where the mother and her child are running away from the furious father. Fun fact : the track is written in a 9\8 time signature, which i think adds a bit to the uneasy feeling of the track. It is lightly inspired by Tropical Jungle from Sonic 06.

Track 4 : Between levels, the player would be able to go into a safe area with a shop ( which i thought would be funny if it was run by the baby, which is why i took the harp part from a mother's lullaby and used it here, with a bit of tinkering ). The theme of A Mother's Lullaby is used a leitmotif in the glockenspiel part.
Track 5 : My favorite track. while thinking for ideas for themes, I remembered the music of the level Aquatic Base from, you guessed it, Sonic 06. The track doesn't sound a lot like it, but the theme of the level and the piano combined with electric drums and choir is inspired by it. The level this track is for would be a sort of gigantic laboratory full of plant-life.

Track 6 : This level would be set in a sort of grand canyon like environment. I can see this being towards the end of the game, maybe just before the final level which track 2 is used for. This one was actually NOT inspired by Sonic 06, but instead inspired by The Canyons Interactive Music from LittleBigPlanet ( an absolute banger )!
Track 7(?) : There was a track that was basically finished, but at the last second I chickened out and didn't submit. It was going to be a level finished theme, that was actually a tweaked version of the electric guitar part from A Mother's Lullaby ( there was another track i worked on, but I scrapped it pretty early ).

Message from the artist:
Had the idea for a story of a mother and her baby escaping from the father, so some of the tracks are meant to be more like cutscene music... ( If you don't want to download the music, there's a link to it on youtube beneath this message )

Theme:

Runaway
Picture theme

How does it fit the theme?
The idea of a mother and her child came from the artwork, and the idea of running away from the father came from the prompt.
Additionally, the scenery of the artwork inspired both "The Botanic Chamber" and "He's Coming".

Wonderful submission! I love the melodic style throughout. Also great choice of instruments to paint a vivid picture. Each track has its own unique feel. Safe haven is my favorite, it is so soothing and relaxing. I love the harps, and subtle orchestration would fit really well in a RPG. Thanks for sharing!

Loved the use of harp in some of the songs! The Botanic Chamber was definitely my favorite, very cool track.

Thank you! It's really fun to write for harp, and The Botanic Chamber is my favorite one too!

Track 1: I love the marimba tremolo here... while it is very mellow, it does give the track some energy. Beautiful development of the melody with the other lines and instruments!

Track 2: really cool harp glissando-- I'm a sucker for a good harp glissando.

Track 3: there's a great juxtaposition of the low, ominous drums and the sometimes cheerful harmony here-- creates a rather complex emotion, perhaps one of a cheerful father with false promises, and the actual fear of the abused mother and child.

Track 4: beautiful-- the harp and vibraphone combination is serene.

Track 5: This is an awesome tone shift-- love the more intense drums here.

Track 6: I love the diversity of this track-- sometimes intense, sometimes more mellow.

In all, this is a solidly composed soundtrack, and it's never too repetitive. I only wish you shared more about each track, so I could know more about the story! Still, good job, and keep writing!

Thank you for being so informative! I'd love to give more story about the tracks, might do it soon ( stay tuned! lol ).

Also would like to say that almost all of my tracks are heavily inspired by Sonic The Hedgehog ( 2006 ) and LittleBigPlanet's soundtracks, so if you even slightly enjoyed my submissions, you should 100% check those soundtracks too!

Just added some notes for each track, if you wanna read up!

You found a great blend of instruments. I really liked "He's Coming", the mix of all the percussive instruments was great. Good job!

Developer

Thank you! Cool fact - that one was actually written in a 9/8 time signature, which i think adds to the uneasy feeling of it.

Thank you! I was a little afraid that it would seem inconsistent, so i'm glad that you enjoyed it!

Nice job! I really enjoyed Safe Haven the most!

Developer

Thank you! I'm pretty proud of that one specifically, because i managed to insert a leitmotif into it.
