I am very excited about this game, as it is the first one I played for a Game Jam and it was great to do it.

Attempting to escape the cave is a game of memory and chance. In exploring its caverns we encounter a handful of obstacles that stand in our way of the exit. After each move we might hear cues that indicate danger in one of the directions we haven’t explored. And at each exit (or demise) we’re given a new cave to explore.

The most charming aspect of the game is its audio. I enjoyed flipping through its menus and hearing your voice. It’s somewhat sparse, yet with its fully voiced menus and mouth sound effects, we feel like we’re hanging out with you. It’s best accessibility feature is its interactive instructions screen where you explain all the sounds you created.

There are a few audio cues that I think could work better. Footsteps would be a great addition so we would know when we move. At times I fell into a monster or the abyss because the sounds that warn us have no directional cues. This is a design decision and I appreciate if it never changes, but adding panning or filtering to them could help us make sense of which direction they’re coming from, so our next moves aren’t quite a leap of faith.

Thanks for your submission. Good work!
