The controls are awesome, it really made me feel like I’m moving a shopping cart! The products jiggling in the cart as I move is a really nice touch. The storytelling and tutorial was also great, it conveyed what I needed to do effectively. I played for quite a bit and managed to keep the timer at 40 seconds for almost forever because the shop started filling up with lots of stock, and I was able to get the bonus items very often. I enjoyed playing the game but perhaps there needs to be more variety in the gameplay.
Also, the checkered floor is a bit too harsh for my eyes, and the pattern is almost everywhere. I also noticed that the timer doesn’t restart after a game is finished, so the next game immediately ends. Overall, it’s a well-designed game and I think you did a great job!
Thanks for the feedback! Balance was one of the things I want to go back and change as I didn't have much time to playtest as I wanted to. I tried breaking up the checkered pattern with the brown middle as it was hurting my eyes there but i will try to brake it up more after the jam and i will look into that bug you where having with the timer.
Nice simple gameplay of match against a clock. I noticed there isn't a fruit target at the bottom of the screen every round if might help the clarity of the gameplay loop if there was a target food item every time. otherwise it was a fun gameplay loop.
Thanks for the kind words. The way the food on the bottom of the screen works is after 35 seconds one of the food items will be chosen to give double the time. Cashing out that food will give double the time for 30 seconds then after another 35 seconds a new food will be chosen. I did this because I wanted the player to have to "survive" losing time before making that time back plus some when the bonus time food came back. Will try your idea after the jam!
Nice concept! I like the story and idea behind the game...was pretty fun running around and grabbing groceries too. I guess some things to add like angry customers in the way or some kind of obstacle could be an addition, but honestly it was a good game and I think you did really well. Keep at it!
Thank you! I might try your idea. The idea was that remembering where food is in the store for when the bonus time food comes up was the main strategy of the game and something blocking you from where you know food is might become frustrating.
It was a fun concept and easy to play/understand. I enjoyed the background music and the sound effects.
