This game is amazing. I did not expect it to be such an experience wow. The music is absolutely amazing. I had to play it twice to hear it again at max volume. The song that plays once it goes dark and the I've conquered time climb song are seriously so great I couldn't believe it. It was absolutely worth all the hoops I jumped thru to play this. The climbing does feel good and it's fun to climb up to the buttons and press them.

It took me a while to figure out how to move and climb. I didn't realize for a while that pressing A cycled thru the different options for each hand. Switching between the two is pretty clunky. The only two things I used on left stick were Climb and Dpad move and there were a lot of other options to cycle  thru between them so I had to sit and stare at my left hand each time while I switched. The color of everything when it's lit up is kind of a lot to look at, I like it more when it was dark. I wish the song that played when it got dark repeated, my first playthru a lot of it was in silence cuz I didn't start even pressing buttons til it was dark.

I ran into a bug on my 2nd playthru, when I had clicked all the buttons for all but one of the windmill things it started playing the song that I had won and then when I went a pressed the buttons for the last windmill it started playing the song again on top of the other one. Sorry if I'm not explaining it well, I think there is some way to trigger the win condition without every button being pressed.

Not trying to be overly negative I just wanted to leave detailed feedback cuz idk how many people are gonna go thru the hoops of playing this on their headset. This was amazing, I did not expect to leave Time Climb feeling emotional staring into the purple sky.

wow thank you for going through all the trouble just to get it running and thank you for the thoughtful feedback you have written here. I found the bugs in my code for the repeat music and I realized too that the switch logic is busted too (which is likely the cause of that bug) hehe so I am going to fix some of these for just a fix up post-jam version.

for real though, thanks so much for this review- you totally made my day! Happy jamming and cheers to you!

I have a quest and this looks like a lot of fun! I don't know how to run this file type on quest though, should I load it with sidequest and plug my quest into my pc witha long cable?

Developer (2 edits)

If you have sidequest you can click an option to upload an APK file onto the headset, then to access the game on your headset you go to your apps, you have to select from the sorting dropdown menu "unknown sources" which should show the app "Time Climb". This will run natively on your quest and won't need to be linked to a pc to run it. I wish you luck! the process is not convenient so thank you for even thinking of trying and cheers!

Looks interesting! Wish I had the hardware to try it out.

I really want to try this but will need to figure out how to side load it on my quest
Props for building this!  This is on a whole other level! - 12 beers  haha

Developer

hehe tyty! also don't worry if the side loading doesn't work. My quest / quest link is more temperamental than a pack of wild dachshunds

Woah I've never seen a VR game in a jam before. Would I be able to play this on my Meta Quest 2? I'm not really familiar with how to load stuff onto it that isn't from the meta store.

Developer

You can play it on quest! You need some type of side loader (like Sidequest) to do it, and you may need to also enable developer mode on your headset through your phone app

ok cool! I'll look into sidequest and enabling developer mode later and I'll give it a play!

Developer

thanks for considering! It is a lot of hoops to jump through for sure so I wish you luck-!
