Hello,

This was a wonderful game. You took as nice mechanic, boiled it down to the most fun of it, and created a map to allow the player to enjoy it! I also appreciated the level design which is excellently done in my opinion. You know what you are doing. I also discovered several hidden paths and hidden teleports. It's pleasant to find a game that includes this hidden secrets and are implemented with good hints.

Yes, the game is difficult, but I see that it is difficult by good design, not artificially difficult due to lack of polish or due to bad desicions. You can be proud of your game and would love to know if you are developing this game further.

Also I realized that your cover image has a hint, and indeed grappling on the bats is useful!

I would be glad to keep discussing with you about game design and level design, either here or by Discord or email if you wish.

Congratulations for the entry!

Cheers

Hi !

Thank you so much for your nice words, I'm glad to see you really enjoyed our work !

It's cool that you appreciated the level design, though I still belive that it isn't really good, and the difficulty is really high too.

As for the future, I don't think we will be developping this further, but is was still a ton of fun, and some really good experience for all of us !

My discord DM are always open if you want to talk about game design and stuff, @Horncraft on the MM server !

Cheers !

Hi there, cool game!

I'm a big fan of the grapple, though I feel like gravity might be a tad too strong, sometimes making it hard to align your hookshots properly. Not sure if there was none or I just stopped playing too soon, but there didn't seem to be any powerups, which is unfortunate, I think a dash/double jump and such could've been fun in combination with a grapple.

There's not a lot of art in this, but the bits of art that it did have were totally fine! Music felt a bit unfitting perhaps, but sound effects were pretty much on point.

Game's clearly unfinished, but if you expand on the whole grapple platformer bit and just polish a bunch, it could be a really awesome experience!

This game is really hard , I gave up after three game overs without knowing if I made meaningful progress. The precision needed for some of the grapples is really high, and with the game over mechanic i ended up not wanting to have to do really difficult sections again to get back to where I was. It might be a personal preference thing, but I'm not sure having a game over screen works to your advantage. Using the grapple and jump in combination was kind of awkward to me just due to the keybinds. I kept accidentally grappling instead of jumping and vice versa. Skill issue on my part maybe :)

That said I liked the art, the character sprite was cool especially. Also the sound/music was really good. The gamefeel was generally pretty nice and I think there's a solid basis here.  I think the level design was based around some cool interactions between the grapple and jump. With a more gradual difficulty curve I could see it being super fun!

also don't be so self deprecating in your game description ;)
